I use to wear paint like jewelry. Countless photos of me from my wee years, the years of the blonde fro and addiction to Cheerios, were balanced with drawing easels, tattered books, and those smears of blue and green on my skin. Even a small napkin or scrap of paper was worthy of being covered in acrylic. Painting, drawing, being creative whatever the context was a necessity for me, often taking place in the family room against my Mother’s wishes. (The lighting was just too good. As an accountant, I knew she wouldn’t understand.) It was there I learned making the first move, the initial introduction of paint to paper, can be the bravest move made. It was where I learned creativity was needed to sustain my bones. And that effort and time spent on something you truly care for can produce the greatest accessories, pride and a permanent smile.

I believe in the simplicity of being honest, kind, and optimistic. I still wear that permanent smile, and added a famous giggle to match. Until praise from my previous team members, I wasn’t aware these were professional strengths. I put the smile in Human Resources, a sometimes tedious and exhausting task. I was the owner of difficult meetings and email exchanges that still ended in witty jokes. When these talents were recognized by the bigwigs, I was promoted to Community Engagement Specialist in parallel with the company’s Certified B Corp recognition. Newly tasked with being the face and voice of nonprofit interactions, I played matchmaker between my 200+ person team and volunteering opportunities within the community. I was the coordinator of annual, week long Halloween fundraisers, and the Event Coordinator for our building's own rental space. Though these new responsibilities kept my schedule busy, I still loved being the smile at reception when needed. It was because of this balancing act that I learned what I wanted to do - To work for a cause and/or company that believes in the same importance of doing good. And to make those around me smile the whole time.

You see, Craftsy, I have been admiring you for a while. I have an innate need to be around creative minds and while looking for opportunities in Denver I came across your name. And I have followed you ever since. I have overwhelming respect for the creative work that you do and the community you have built. This is what drew me in the most, the people, the team. That may sound cliché, but as mentioned above, I believe in honesty.

Yes, I am one for floral writing, evidently, but there is a time and a place for efficiency. I would love the opportunity to chat with you about joining your team. I believe in your ideals and creativity, and believe I could be the perfect friendly face to be the first impression. And know that I can promise you this; If I join your team, I will be the one known for her smile and giggle. I will proudly act as office DJ until asked to step down from my throne. And I will be your carrier of acrylics.

I hope you are having a lovely week.

Stay splendid.
